Anyone know about "computer glasses"?
Glasses or sunglasses designed to save your eyeballs from staring too hard at the computer screen. What are they called, and where do you get them?

1. Serengiti's?
back in the 80's a friend of mine wore serengeti's to protect his eyes from flourescent lights and computers. He claimed they really helped with his headaches, etc. I found them too dark. FWIW

Some drug stores sell slightly tinted non-magnifying glasses advertised for this purpose, but much better Optical grade glasses (prescription and non) can be purchased with a specific coating designed to reduce computer glare (as well as to aid with night driving). I know that LensCrafter advertises this availability.

3. How about some Peril Sensitive Sunglasses?
Peril Sensitive Sunglasses

Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses have been specially designed to help people develop a relaxed attitude to danger. At the first hint of trouble, they turn totally black and thus prevent you from seeing anything that might alarm you.

:)

(Please forgive obscure Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy reference).

4. You must've been drinking Pan Galatic Gargle Blasters
or else been forced to gnaw your own leg off after listening some to some bad alien poetry.

5. O Feedled Gruntbuggly,
? ... Thy nacturations are to me!
As plurdled gabbleblochits on a lurgid bee.
Groop, I emplore thee, my foonting turlingdromes.
And hooptiously drangle me with crinkly bindlewurdles
or I will rend thee in gabberwarts with my burglecruncheon,
See if I don't!

Now tell me how much you liked my poem!

7. Pearle Vision puts a coating on my glasses that's supposed to
cut the glare. I think it's a put on though, really. :hi:

10. Nope. AR really works.
It can be a real bitch to keep clean, though.

9. Basically, it's an anti-reflective coating combined with a 10% tint.
Back when monitors came in amber, green, etc. they used specific color tints. Now, they just use a light grey combined with AR. Some places sell specialized "computer glasses" but I don't think they make any major difference, other than costing about $40 more.

Go with a 10% grey and an AR. Cost an additional $40 or so over the price of lenses. "Computer glasses" will run you about $80 more.

11. My computer glasses are just the near vision part of my
bifocals as a single vision lens. I just can't use the @)(*%) bifocals on the computer for any length of time without getting a nasty headache.

They do have AntiReflective coating, which helps a lot with office glare.

I am seriously considering a trial run of monovision contacts next time I get my eyes checked though. I am tired of wearing glasses and a headset at the same time.

Generally tired of wearing glasses period, and not quite ready to take the Lasix plunge
