Mystery surrounds "dead man" found alive.
Um, wow.

INGLESIDE, N.C. - Larry Green stepped out of the darkness so suddenly that the car that hit him didnÕt even leave skid marks. The impact sent his shoes, socks and the unopened beer in his hand flying.

2. MSNBC and the AP must be having a slow news day
this happened Jan 24, and was noted on the NC forum, I think it was on other national news at the time.

Two EMTs have been fired.

3. There is a clasic Alfred Hichcock story
About a man paralyzed by an auto accident. He can only move his little finger but the paramedics roll him over on his side. After he has given up hope the doctor sees tears in his eyes and recognized he is alive.

7. or an Edgar Alan Poe story
Poe was obsessed with being buried alive. If coroners today can't tell the dead from living, you can only imagine how common that might have been in the eighteenth-century.

4. Mr. Perdue sounds like a real winner
I hope no one outside of the U.S. reads this story. They don't need to know how stupid we really are.

8. Right!!!

Elaine Hicks, who lives two trailers over from Green’s, said she thinks people should focus on the miracle of Green’s survival. In fact, she asked, who’s to say the paramedics weren’t right, and that Green did not come back from the dead?

“It could have been the Almighty,” the 57-year-old woman said. “He has the last say so.”

6. coroners sometimes don't have medical degrees
or any particular training. In some jurisdictions, they are elected with no particular qualifications as a requirement for running for office. I wonder if this might not be one such case.

11. The product of right wing health education?
I'm not being entirely facetious here.

"Elaine Hicks, who lives two trailers over from Green’s, said she thinks people should focus on the miracle of Green’s survival. In fact, she asked, who’s to say the paramedics weren’t right, and that Green did not come back from the dead?"

This is the attitude that they're pushing everywehere- from high school science classes to graduate schools....

12. I've seen several ghosts in my lifetime
including the soul of a person who died in the emergency room in which I was working at the time. These experiences were not frightening; quite the contrary. I consider myself a rationalist, and trust me, these sightings caused me some very deep reflection.

I'm not a church goer, but I will say this: once you've had that kind of experience, you find it unbecoming to sneer at those who think there's more to our existence than our short traipse upon Earth.
