I miss you guys!
I am breaking the rules at my College and I can only stay on this computer for a few minutes. When we log in they know what websites we have gone to and we are not allowed to surf the web unless we are doing homework.

My computer is still in safe mode and it's around 6 years old and I don't think that I can get it fixed. It's an eMachine and it's junk. The last time that it did this I took it to Bestbuy and they added some memory but I can't add any more memory to my hard drive.

I wanted to say HI to everyone and I finally got to meet a fellow DU'er and he is a very nice person.

I was too embarressed to tell him that I live in a subsidized apt. and my rent is discounted by how much I make on SSI.

I miss you guys and I loved being on this board. I miss reading about the right wingers and everything else.

How do you tell someone that you live in a section 8 apt? It's very difficult to explain to someone about being in a nice huge building but the only reason that you are there is because of a discount voucher.

The building watches every move you make because they are providing you with an apt at a discounted rate.
They know everything about you and I can't wait to get out of Culinary College so that I can improve my living arrangements.

Right now my Dad, Sister and I are living in a studio apt. but it will get better.

I didn't know how to tell my fellow DU'er that I am in a section 8 apt.

I miss you guys!

6. Thanks
The building that I live in apts start out at $900.00 per month for a studio and I stood in line for 5 hours a few months back and they called me. I believe God helped me with getting the apt because we would have been homeless.
My Dad keeps asking for his things and I keep telling him everthing is in storage. I have to come clean soon and tell him everything is gone.

I also shop with a Link card and each time that you use the card the cashier tells everyone that she has food stamps to ring up.

We had a house and a business and it's been a major adjustment for me.
When you get hungry you go to the store with your Link Card(Dignity Card LOL).

My Sisters boyfriend kicked her out and now she is sleeping on my floor and bitching about it.

My building has rules and I am breaking them and I don't know what to do.
They will kick her out and she will be homeless.

2. Chin Up, corarose!
You are doing what you have to do to make your life and the lives of your family better. In my book, that makes you a hero. Don't be embarassed that you live in sec. 8. Be proud that you will do what you morally & legally have to do to get where you need to be. I've seen soooo many people give up on themselves that my heart grows when I see someone like you with so much courage. Even though we've never met, you have 3 friends in Maine; my wife, son and me!

:bounce:  :yourock:

Hooray for you, corarose!

3. corarose, we DUers are smarter than we look!
I'm sure if it's important to you that he know that, that he will figure it out.

I can't tell you how much I admire you, corarose. You're such a strong woman. And I'm glad you checked in - I was wondering where you were!

She's too embarrased to ask for help though...I know because I'm "that" DUer (though I never thought of myself as 'nice.')

Anybody know where I can get a decent deal on a computer in the Chicago area for Corarose?

On Edit: She's had to drop a class and lost a job because her computer went down and I'm trying to help a little.

4. Section 8 is meant to help
in a time of need.

Some day (when you're a famous television chef) you'll return the favor....

take care...study hard.

5. Hi sweety.
If it matters to him about your financial situation, you can do a lot better than him anyway.
Being poor is nothing to be ashamed of, especially for someone like you who is working so hard to change that.
All the best to you.
Keep on keeping on.

i have an emachine, and it's clunking right along pretty nice still.

feel free to pm or write with some details if you want help.

10. What is an emachine anyway?
I remember when they came out but are the components different than a regular PC?
