1. I like Clark too and I think he will be hard to beat but

he is very vague on the subject of NAFTA. He is still talking about exporting jobs overseas. The very idea of exporting jobs is hurting this nation. If other nations care to compete with the US, I see nothing wrong with this- as long as their workers are paid competatively and have the right to strike and to collectively bargain.

4. NAFTA is bullshit anyways

The US has hiked tons of tariffs on Canada, completely contrary to the agreement. It's simply a deal constructed to milk the Canada and Mexico to America's delight.

The real loss of jobs are not NAFTA.

It's the mad rush by everyone to China and India.

5. I should have said "NAFTA-like"agreements.

There are several of them. I can't recall right off what the one dealing with Pacific Rim nations is called. But I don't think China should have ever been given" favored nation" trading status. We will live to regret it, I fear.

7. Jobs Going Overseas IS NOT THE PROBLEM

The problem is the lack of NEW Jobs and Technologies to take the place of the old ones.

Also, companies should be required to forewarn and prepare the government and work force for when they are going to outsource jobs. This would allow the government to help redirect and retrain workers.

Clark spoke last night of investing in alternative energies and Homeland Security for job creation and he also mentioned the need for businesses & the governement to plan ahead for shifts in their workforce.

Krugman wrote a column today in the NYTimes about Free Trade and how it is a MISTAKE to think that there is finite amount of jobs to be had in the United States and that none of them should be sent overseas.

Isolationism is not the answer.

10. I'd like to agree with you but there is a big difference

between fair trade and free trade.When jobs are lost here and sent to areas which use slave labor to make products which are then sold back in the US, that is UNFAIR trade! Competition is impossible.

Dean's Campaign usage of Meetup.com has more parallels with Capra's "Meet John Doe" than Clark and his campaign. And Dean shares more of Capra's values than Clark does.
