Ok computer whizzes, where is my information stored?
I have had wireless internet at home for a while, but i just figured out how to set up a wireless network between my main computer and my laptop. I put some files in the shared folder from my laptop, and then turned it off. But when I turned the laptop off, I can still get the files from the main computer. Where is this data being stored?

2. You said you "put" some files in the shared folder
.
.
.

It reads like you took some files from your main computer and "put" them on you laptop . .

If you did the "drag and drop", there's a good possibility that you just copied them to your laptop, instead of "moving" them, so they are on both computers ?

When you "drag and drop", if there is a wee "+" sign beside the files when ur dragging, it's copying - if not(no "+" sign), then it's moving them.

Of course, I'm assuming that my FIRST assumption may be correct, in that you copied them instead of moving them

So I could be way off the mark - maybe a wee bit more info?

3. They are on your main computer's shared folder
You said:

To me, this means you took files from the laptop's shared folder and put them somewhere on the main computer, perhaps main's shared folder.

But if the laptop's completely off, then they are on main's disc.

Try right clicking the files and choosing 'Properties' - this will give you a bunch of info, including the path to the file: if the path begins with \\ then it is over a network connection; otherwise it will be 'local' E.G.: on your hard disc.

Tut-tut
