peaceful about the color and the fact that it is fabric. Maybe it is better from the aerial photos, don't know and will not get there to see it so from my perspective from Kansas it is beautiful and makes me feel good knowing someone thought it up and did it.

17. What I Liked About It

Went over for the first unravelings, didn't think I would like it but wanted to see. One of my friends said it was transcendental. I wouldn't go that far, but what I did like was the color of it displayed against the winter gray of the park. I also appreciated the thought and planning that went into it. The releasings worked perfectly. A pole would reach up, pull a hanging tab, a casing of plastic (?) would fall off and the banner would unfurl and drop. Anyone who has ever worked on projects knows how difficult it is to get the mechanics right, things are always going wrong, so it was great to see something of this scale carried out so wonderfully right down to the vinyl poles that can be wiped clean of any grafitti. I also like that they, Christo and Jeanne, footed the entire bill for an exhibit that the city expects to make 80-100 million from. So for me, this has all the makings of being a plus.

Those Unbrellas in California a few years ago even killed a couple of people. (One fell on a woman's head, another person was struck by lightning standing next to one.)

19. He wrapped sidewalks in a park here in KC

many years ago. It was not only ugly, but looked really stupid too. This new thing he did in Central Park doesn't look to be as ugly as the sidewalks here were. But I'd have to see it in person to have an honest opinion.
