Has anyone ever stayed at the Lady Luck Casino in Las Vegas?
We're going to Vegas in March, and thinking about staying there. Anyone ever stay there, and if so, what did you think?

1. No
The Nugget has very nice rooms and the Four Queens is nice if you stay on the newly remodeled side...don't know about Lady Luck

3. It's in the old downtown area of Vegas.

I have a soft spot for it because it was built up by the late Andy Tompkins. He started as a shoe-shine boy and worked his way up to owning that casino. He sold it and was looking forward to retirement when he was struck down with cancer. Gone in 6 months.

He and his wife were instrumental in starting the Las Vegas Philharmonic 6 years ago. She's still a big financial supporter. The Phil is the premiere local arts organization and will move into the new Performing Arts Center that the city hopes to break ground for in September with an opening date in 2007.

The legacy of the Lady Luck is bringing culture to Vegas. I can't speak for present owners/management, but the Tompkins did the right thing when they owned it...except they hated the unions as do all of the casinos owners out here.

4. No, but they're not on the higher end of the spectrum.
I just got back from LV last week and at night it's freezing!

There's a bunch of new forum shops at Caesar's Palace.

5. can't remember if I actually stayed, I think not
I think I just did the casino but it is *very* inconveniently located.

If the Isle of Capri is putting you up there for free, probably worth it. If you are paying, probably not. Try the Imperial Palace, infinitely better location for probably the same price and the Nazi no longer owns it.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

6. Have you been to Vegas before? If not, you need to realize
that The Strip is one area of town and the downtown area is about 5 miles away. Downtown has the Lady Luck, Golden Nugget, 4 Queens, etc. Prices are much cheaper there for rooms ($29 and up) and the paybacks on the machines are better. Locals tend to go there before the Strip.

If you want to stay on the Strip, then you'll need to think about prices. The cheapest places are the Imperial Palace, The Barbary Coast and -sometimes - the Luxor ($49-79 and up). Check out prices at lasvegas.com.

9. It will depend on the time of year you're coming.
If you're here during NASCAR (Mar 11-13) , everything is sold out or sky high.

7. I have, but it was about 14 years ago
I had no problems with it. Considering how little time you spend in a room, it was fine. If you want luxury, this is not the hotel for you.

Have a good time!
