11. You might be thinking of Jeff Smith. Wasn't he
The Frugal Gourmet? I think he was in trouble about children, but can't remember exactly what it was.

Yes you're right it was Jeff Smith/Frugal Gourmet..thanks for jogging this brain of mine!

I don't remember what the charges were for, I remember being shocked when I heard about them.

Edited to add: just googled for Jeff Smith story, here's the link:

8. you may be thinking of the Frugal Gourmet
Jeff Smith. He settled a lawsuit in which he was accused of sexual harassment of his interns. Or something like that. Justin Wilson may've been charged with child abuse, but I've never heard that.

6. I watched him every Saturday.
He was funny and I loved to hear him talk. He sure knew how to cook. I wanted to get his cook book, but I've got around 200 and really don't need anymore.I bought a whole box full of cook books at a yard sale one time for $3.00 and I've added to them since then.

I have a cook book of President Clinton's favorite dishes that I picked up when I was in Arkansa visiting his homes he had lived in while growing up.

I sure was sad when Justin Wilson passed away.

I sure miss his shows. It was great to watch, laugh and learn.

RIP Justin.

Edited to add:

link to Justin Wilson's webpage run by his daughter.

There are recipes and make sure your speakers are on to hear him say one more time "How Y'all are?"

10. I need to tell you
JW was a comedian in the sixties and seventies. His recordings were very popular. His cooking show as a joke compared to his stand up comedy. He had some extremely funny routines dancing on the edge of racy subject matters.

I'm glad you liked him on the cooking shows!

I wish you could hear some of his old stuff.

I'm gonna look for it on the web.

Maybe another poster closer to my age can help explain.

15. He was fun.
He used to kid around about how much wine he put in almost everything (he always put in more) and always drank up at the end of the show.
I do seem to remember something shady about him later. I'm not confusing him with Jeff Smith either.

19. I met Justin Wilson about 10 years ago.
He used to live in Big Branch, Louisiana and he frequented a restaurant called "La Provence".

Nice man. He did not speak with a cajun accent at all when I met him. I've since heard that he was not really a cajun and the accent was a gimmick for his T.V. personna.
