Do you have anyone's phone number blocked?
If so, why? We've finally permanently blocked my parents-in-law because they're very, very toxic people who have no compuction about leaving abusive messages on our answering machine. I honestly believe his mother is psycho, but maybe it's just the legal plethora of mood-altering drugs she takes...

So, who's on your list?

5. What a prick.
Husband had a friend like that long ago. About the same height to weight ratio. Actually had the nerve to tell me that my ass wasn't the shape he preferred! WTF? Wasn't like I was about to leave my husband and collapse in a sex-addled delirium into his flabby arms, ya know? :eyes:

2. I tried to but at the time I couldn't block a
long distance number. I had to change my number and make it unlisted. I was trying to block my abusive mother who was leaving four and five abusive and threatening messages a day.

7. 4 and 5 messages a DAY?!
Gorsh. I feel lucky. Mother-in-law is local but only whips into a frenzy a few times a year, at most. I haven't seen or talked to her since 2000. Husband has not been so lucky. :-(

3. One of my cousins.
I was the executor of her mom's estate. Out of over 250,000 dollars, only left her daughter $30,000 (wasn't going to leave them anything either). She has two young children that the bulk of the estate went to. I am the trustee of that estate. She blew her money on drinking, partying and never paid off any debts (some which were about to be foreclosed on). She calls me wanting money for stuff (out of their trust funds) that, as a parent, she is responsible for.
I told her to get lost.
I would've done the same in your situation. Don't let people like that suck the life out of you!

4. nobody but I don't answer "blocked calls" when they come in ...
I figure if they don't want me to know who they are, they don't need to talk to me.

6. I have EVERYONE'S phone number blocked.

Actually I just never plug my phone in unless I want to call out -- or if someone I know, like, and wish to talk with, emails me they'll be calling and tells me what time to plug in the phone.

I have dial-up and I keep the modem plugged in. I lived aboard a small sailboat at a mooring for 12 years without a phone and just got used to the peace and quiet of not being disturbed. When I moved ashore I got a phone and the first night it woke me up with a wrong number. I endured a few days of wrong numbers and telemarketers before I realized that I could simply pull the plug. Then I got the computer and plugged the modem in.

I enjoy having a phone. It is a pleasant convenience.

9. I like the cut of your jibe
Telephones are supposed to be for the *owner's* convenience! And sailboat living sans a phone would suit me just fine too, thank you very much. :)

10. For people who might get important calls,

I think it is possible to turn the ringer off and use an answering machine with the volume turned low. Then you can turn up the volume to check your messages when it is convenient, without ever being disturbed by a ringing phone. Isn't technology great?
