Should I keep my home phone?
I have a cell phone; I don't use the home phome much at all. In fact, it hadn't been working for a while. I never even noticed. Obviously the line needs to be fixed; whoever moves in after me may want a working phone line.

Is there a realy good reason to keep it? The only reason I may is for emergency services. With a cell phone, they can't tell where you are.

1. I don't have it
that's one less bill to pay. I use my cell phone as my only phone. If it's an emergency, they can trace you. I think its pretty accurate too.

2. I've been thinking of canceling mine too. Too expensive, and I hardly ever
use it. I use mostly my cell phone. The only reason to keep the home phone would be if you use dial-up internet.

3. we only have cell phones. land line was useless to us.
No one ever calls us and the cell has free long distance, free calls to each other and anyone else on the network. We use Alltel. It was pointless to pay for 2 cells and a land line.
The ONLY problem is that some institutions like Western Union will NOT accept your cell number when you try to transfer money. Apparently they can tell what a cell number is and what a land line is by their prefixes. Some lending institutions have issues with cells too.

something to do with homeland security I think.

5. Check with the local cop station
on where your 911 calls go. My cell will call a center over 40 miles away and so I decided to keep the land line for that one reason alone. Once I move, I'll be getting rid of it. Also, your position can be identified if your cell phone has a GPS chip in it, yes. But I would suggest that you think about whether that is a good thing or not...

6. If you order deliveries
most won't deliver if you call from a cell phone...
