The Grammy Odd Couple

I know he produced her last album, but I still think this is the oddest pair ever put together. Loretta Lynn is old style country and Jack White is about as exact opposite of that you can find.

But I heard it's a great album - I should check it out!

2. A GREAT album!
They may seem like an odd couple, but they did excellent work together.

3. I've always liked Loretta Lynn even though I hate country music
But then again it's today's Country music that I hate. The old-style stuff never grows old which Loretta Lynn is a part of.

BTW, "Coal Miner's Daughter" was on TCM - I love that movie!!

6. When I was a child,

in the 60's, my Mom listened to C&W all of the time. The heavy hitters of that time were Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, and Merle Haggard to name a few. I'm not the biggest C&W fan, but todays "country" is nothing but a bunch of pop crap with a twangy guitar when compared to the work of those older artists. Listen to old Johnny Cash records and you'll hear as much of the spirit of Woody Guthrie in there as you hear from anyone else.

The Jack / Loretta disc is incredible.

4. That album fucking rocks.
Excuse my profanity, but it's appropriate. What a great pairing. And kudos to Loretta Lynn for giving an indie rocker the chance to show her what he could do for her.

5. Jackie looks like hell.

I don't know what happened in the past three years (okay, I know, it was fame) to make him look like the lost Van Zandt brother, but it's fucking disturbing.

9. I made no comment on his rockerifficness
(though I didn't care for Elephant)

I just said he looks nasty. He used to be a cute little rocker boy with his cute little rocker ex-wife (Megan is just about the sweetest musician I've ever met). Now he looks like someone from an episode of "Cops."

10. LOL
"Now he looks like someone from an episode of 'Cops.'"

Too funny. That's got to be the best put down line I've heard in a long while. Consider it stolen. :headbang:

8. Did she just get her face done?
I missed her on the show somehow last night...and now I'm sorta sad I did. She looks so....different.

She's also crazy as a loon and further to the right than Reagan. But I like her anyhow.
