How bad was the duet of Mr and Mrs Anthony
I missed the Grammys but I heard it was awful. Their set sure was atrocious.

3. I didn't see that, but the group version of Across the Universe
was utterly horrible.

4. It was the most horrifying thing I've ever witnessed......
...that one might try to fit into the general category of "Art".

:scared:

5. But why?
Bad singing. Did J-Lo hook up with husband 4 during the song? What?

6. It was pure schmaltz.
Excessively maudlin.

I have no idea what they were singing about, since it was entirely in Spanish..but I'm sure that if I read a translation of the lyrics it would only make it worse.

The two of them, fumbling around a bedroom set, holding microphones. It was not well thought out.

7. It was excrutiating
simply dreadful; what were they thinking? Also, it was strange. They were in a bedroom and I thought it was all going to be racy and everything but instead they seemed to be putting on clothes to go out.

9. Truly dreadful. She's the bigger star, but that won't last long ...
... with him around. She didn't even get to dance. I guess she's his obedient little poopsy pie wife now.

I had to turn the show off after that interminable duet, but I kept flicking back in and seeing things I didn't want to be seeing: someone doing a cover of the awful old Elvin Bishop song "Fooled Around and Fell In Love", Motley Crue's singer singing with Lynard Skynard, Melissa Ethridge with no hair, looking like Nosferatu (I was later relieved to learn it was cancer chemotherapy and not a fashion statement).

10. It was horrible on a scale of biblical proportions
What I mean is Old Testament, Ms. Yvr. Real Wrath-of-God-type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling! 40 years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanos. The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats, living together... Mass hysteria!

Take my word for it; it was ugly.

12. Not to mention....
...low ratings!!

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=762&e=1&u=/ap/20050215/ap_en_mu/tv_lively_grammys

Grammy Awards Get Lowest Rating Since '95

<snip>

"From J.Lo to James Brown, Usher to U2, the Grammys had it all this year — except a lot of interested viewers. An estimated 18.8 million people watched Ray Charles' swan song clean up with eight awards Sunday night, a startling 28 percent drop from the 2004 Grammys.

After two years on an upswing, Grammy ratings sunk to their lowest level since 1995, according to Nielsen Media Research. It may be an ominous sign for the granddaddy of awards shows, the Academy Awards, Feb. 27 on ABC.

People at CBS and elsewhere in the industry were somewhat perplexed by the numbers on Monday, given that the show was jam-packed with performances and star power."
