Valentine's Day Sucks (just ignore me...)

My day started out OK but it seems to be tanking fast... I know I'm not the only one but I just needed to vent a little.

All you people with people you love and who love you, take time today to really appreciate your situation.

I promised myself that I wasn't going to get upset on Valentine's Day, but then I went to my water aerobics class, attended by a wide range of people, and all of them married, and talking about what they were or weren't going to do to celebrate the occasion.

Meanwhile, since last Valentine's Day, I've been hit on by two men, one of whom was trying to cheat on his wife and the other of whom was trying to cheat on his girlfriend.

A promising online relationship produced no chemistry when we actually met.

So, yeah, I'm bummed out, but at least the day will be over in 10 hours.

In my age group, the single men who are left over tend to be rather boring--and I don't mean "nice," I mean boring, interested in only work and sports.

I know that the highly intelligent, verbally witty, kindhearted, liberal middle-aged men who willingly attend cultural events and aren't afraid of foreign cultures are out there somewhere, but there's no central repository where I can go check them out. :-)

To be honest, I've not been single on V-Days for a few years, and I always hated it when I was involved because it always felt so contrived and hollow.

This year I don't have to worry about any of that crap, I can just be contrived and hollow on my own!
