I am so glad I am single on V-Day |
|
I don't have to stress about whether or not I should take my girlfriend to an expensive dinner. I don't have to stress about whether or not I should buy a gift, and if so, what should I buy. And I don't have to stress about sending flowers.

2. They said on the local (Vancouver) news that |
|
The average boyfriend spends $100. The average husband spends $50. But 46% of women spend nothing.

3. No wonder single women always feel so deprived on V-Day |
|
They know what they're missing out on. You don't hear about too many depressed men on V-Day. It's always the women. The depressed men are the ones shelling out $100 on V-Day in the hopes that they might get laid tonight.

8. yikes.... that sure is a generalization.... |
|
I've never been depressed on Valentine's Day in my life... of course, I've never depended on gifts from men (or women) to buy me happiness either.

but it's because of the state of my marriage, not lack of goodies.
I hate the stereotype of women this thread reinforces.

11. True... if anything, the depression comes from being in unhappy |
|
relationships or not in relationships at all... highly doubtful that these "depressed" women are so materialistic that they would be depressed about not getting a bunch of roses or chocolates or jewelry... and I would be willing to bet that there are just as many depressed men in unhappy or nonexistent relationships as there are women.

10. MrG isn't going to do any of that for me. He never has, and I never |
|
wanted him to. One day in April, he brought me a dozen carnations...and it was a wonderful just because kind of thing. Many girls aren't into the whole "spend money on me" thing. Television just makes it seem that way. ;) :hi:

Getting married in 34 days!
I never really had a problem coming up with ideas. Just pay attention to them and get a feel for their likes & dislikes. Hell, just watching television with them can give you a good idea of what they'd like, especially if you can watch "chick flicks" with them.
