6. Vanilla Fudge
Not all of their covers improved upon the original, but I think this one did. To me, it's actually the definitive version of the song- the seven minute album version, of course.

Another great song they really transformed was "Some Velvet Morning."

Although, I should say that I've never heard the version by the Rods so I may be missing out on another great take.
