It was in poor taste, but I have done things like that before. I once used sarcasm in a post, but was not obvious enough about it.

I also don't want to perpetuate sexist stereotypes, but it is true that my wife often elbows me around her family because I sometimes don't quite understand the situation and act inappropriately.

I normally wouldn't respond to something like this, but it looks like some people are being hard on you and I do think people are wound a little tight about this (but they have good reason to be wound tight).
