I don't normally do this, but I'm going to be a sympathy whore right now.
I am very very sick. Was up all night vomiting and dry heaving. Couldn't even hold down a tiny sip of water. I'm exhausted (it happened about every 20 minutes for 12 hours) and I feel like someone has gone ten rounds pounding on my ribcage, but I can't sleep because my stomach STILL won't settle down.

I've narrowly avoided going to the ER for an IV, because I am finally able to keep down tiny sips of water. I was so damn thirsty. Husband is on the way with some electrolyte solution I'll take tiny sips of and cross my fingers.

I have a very high tolerance for pain. I've broken my left arm six times, along with numerous other bones broken, I gave birth to a nine pound baby with no drugs and 26 hours of labor and it just wasn't a thang.

But dry heaving? For twelve hours? KILL ME NOW. Turns me into a whimpering lump, begging for mercy.

The last time this happened to me was in January 2000 and I remember telling my husband there was NO ONE in the world I would wish that on.

Guess what? Now I can think of several.

I don't know if this works or not, but I'm hoping maybe if several lounge lizards sent me "STOP FEELING SICK" vibes all at once, it might work.

Whimper. Please?

7. My body doesn't mess around.
It's extremely rare that I throw up or dry heave (last time was five years ago and I can't even tell you the time before that), but when I do, it's hardcore, marathon, you're not afraid you'll die, you're afraid you WON'T die shit.

 Make it stop.

15. do you have access to any "meds?"
sounds like you need a good painkiller or 10.

i feel ya though, i was about to drag my ass to the local profit-centered hospital down the street, but i couldn't move for all the crap that was coming out of my body. like when you feel like you have to cough and all you can do is gag and hopefully not choke on what is coming up through your windpipe.

ok-smay some ope-day.

But hey we have to keep it illegal because.....because.....because....it's so much worse than alcohol? No that can't be it.

these symptons are severe and lasting a little longer than they should for some common illnesses. Seek some professional assistance.

9. I called my doctor's office
spoke to a nurse who said the fact that I am now holding down fluids is a good sign, but if that changes, present myself at an urgent care clinic or the ER. Thank you!

14. Are you able to nibble on a salty cracker?
Like a Saltine? I've found that sometimes that helps with the nausea and jumping stomach - just a little bit of something salty.

I'm sorry you feel so crappy - good vibes coming your way.

16. Ahhh honey
I wish I could be there with a cool cloth for your forehead and eyebrow rubs but as a nurse I would trade off anything, do anything for anyone else willing to take care of a vomiting patient. I simply can't take it so I will send good vibes instead. Take slow, deep breaths. Often that will calm a stomach down once you have reached this point. If you can't get the electrolytes down do go to the ER.

...for a full recovery.

That is NO FUN. What did you eat??? It sounds like salmonella poisoning or something of that nature.

Get that electrolyte solution into yourself and try to rest, rest, rest. Here's hoping it will be an awful memory soon.

22. Thanks, sweetie.
It has now progressed to fever, body aches, chills and more vomiting. So I think it's the full-on flu.

Too bad I never had access to a flu shot.

Thanks to everyone here. I'm going to shut this down (I just remembered I still had it on) for the night and hope for recovery or death.

Just kidding on the death part. It took me three minutes to type this.

25. I send vibes of phenergan to you...
If you still feel severely nasous tommorrow, go to the doctor, or get them to call you in an anti-emetic. You'll feel better (and sleep).

As for now, I wish chicken soup and deep sleep on you.

29. Thank you, I had been trying to remember the name of that stuff
they gave it to me after I had my appendix out and I was barfing and messing up the incision. She put it in my IV and in five seconds the nausea was totally gone and in about 30 seconds I was asleep. If they sold that over the counter, they could ask $ 100 an ounce, I swear.

Thanks again.

27. I've had this several times. I found a trip to the ER works wonders
between that shot they give you that immediately settles your stomach and the fluids so you aren't dehydrated you can feel better in about 20 minutes.

Really, if you can get someone to take you.

Be well...

32. Shouldn't be that much
If you have a regular doctor, they should work you in sometime tommorrow. If not, go to an urgent care center rather than the ER.

Most primary care docs other than OB/GYNs will have IV fluids at their office, and phenergan injections. (OBs might, but they tend to do less acute sick care).
