2. used to own one
high maintenance dog and a one owner one too. Good dog though and very good with my children inspite of the bad press they sometimes get. You have to train them on who the boss is when they are helpless puppies otherwise they become the boss.

4. they are a lot of work

I love the look, and no they aren't as bad as a lot of people think as far as temper. The coat takes a lot of care to avoid matting and keep it sharp. I like the looks better than the personality. While not unfriendly, they are not Golden Retrievers who live to be with you and make you happy.

edit cause I can't spell

7. They're not so bad
Except in the summer, when they're blowing their coats. Whoo-boy!

6. I have a chow chow
like the black one in the pictures... She is a very loyal and stubborn dog. Very loving and protective.

She is especially protective of her "sister" who is a rambunctious Siberian Husky.

When we rescued the chow we thought at first that she and the husky (who we had since puppyhood) would never get along. Instead, they get along just great.

In fact, we can't walk them separately or each of them will go insane because the other is not there.

The chow is definitely mothering the husky and will growl at anyone who dares mess with her baby.
