Any "Emeril Live" fans here?

My wife's grandma is staying with us for the winter, and she loves that show. Since I'm nice and spend time with her, I watch it with her, and now....

BAM! I love the show.

And I'm becoming one hell of a cook, btw.

1. I don't consider watching someone cook to be entertainment...

but that's just me.

2. I like the band

but it kills me when Emeril dumps booze into stuff. You know, he pours some, the crowd goes wild then he just dumps it in.

I'm more of a focused taste guy -- Mario Batali. One herb per dish.

7. I saw a cooking show done from a restaurant in a Scottish castle

They dumped booze in everything from the entrees to the vegetables to the desserts. I got tipsy just watching!

8. Mario Baltali rocks!

When they did the very first Iron Chef America show, everyone else was running around being drama queens, but he went about his business so serenely he was almost boring. And won, of course.

10. Batali has killer chops

I was professionally trained in knife skills and I cooked while finishing high school. I like watching Batali because he is one of the few who 1) don't just dump stuff in from little pyrex bowls but actually cut it up in real time and 2) holds a knife the right way (without your index finger on top of the blade) and cuts stuff up faster than you can think about it.

Love it when he makes pasta from scratch in 90 seconds too.

4. I like his recipes

My sil is an Emeril fan. The only cooking show I watch is Great Chefs. But I certainly enjoy all the great food my sil learned to cook with Emeril. I got him a cookbook, etc for Christmas a couple years ago. Chocolate Bread Pudding. Oh My God!!!!!!! Best dessert EVER!

5. I used to watch him all the time.

but the schtick gets old after awhile. For learning the hows and whys of cooking watch "Good Eats" with Alton Brown.

6. I've gotten lucky the few times I've watched it

Once Pat Benatar was on, and Willie Nelson. And I'll never forget when Emeril said he got a letter from a fan whose son missed a question on a test: "Name a term used in cooking." He had answered, "BAM!"
