What's for supper?
We're having beef short ribs, cabbage, potatoes and carrots done in the Dutch oven. I'm also making cornbread.

Arabietta is a hot pasta sauce with little dried red chilis in it.

6. Coarse-ground, Southern style.
We're not fans of the sweet, 'cakey' kind.

:)

17. When I was kid a new family came to the neighborhood.
They were from CONNECTICUT!
My first Yankees.
They had a boy my age and we became friends.
He invited me to dinner one night.
They had cornbread.
They called it "cornbread".
It looked just like cornbread.

It was...CAKE.
I liked it OK, but it was such a...surprise?

11. Hoppin' John
which is a mess of blackeyed peas, rice, bacon, and sauteed pepper strips, accompanied by a tossed salad made by my 18-year-old daughter, the Salad Princess.
And for her sister, the Vegetarian Who Hates Rice, potato and cheddar pierogies from the frozen food aisle. They're really good.

And leftover coconut custard meringue pie from last night.

See, mom's not going to be home until late, and I'm scared of what might happen if I experiment. :D

Besides, I don't think I have any French Onion soup.

19. Skirt steak, roasted vegies, salad.
I marinated the steak in Wishbone, and I'll pan grill it 4 minutes on a side, let it rest and then cut it thinly on the diagonal and against the grain.
