Too little, too late: Internet Explorer 7 (for Win XP SP2 users ONLY)
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6973740/

SAN FRANCISCO - Microsoft will release a new version of its Internet Explorer browser with improved security features, Bill Gates announced Tuesday. Speaking at a security conference in San Francisco, the Microsoft chairman also confirmed that a new anti-spyware product, currently being offered for free in test versions, would be free in its final release as well.

“We have decided to do a new version of Internet Explorer, this is IE 7,” Gates said at the RSA Security Conference.

Microsoft had not previously indicated whether it planned to release a new version of IE. Long the dominant browser in the market, IE has recently seen some of its market share chipped away by open-source rival Firefox, which, like IE, is offered for free.

The new version of IE, which will be released for preliminary testing this summer, will have new protections against viruses, spyware and phishing scams, which fool users into entering sensitive information on Web pages that appear to be legitimate. The update would be available only to users of the latest version of Windows — XP with last summer’s Service Pack 2 upgrade, which also came with security improvements to IE 6.

1. Sorry, we're already using a Version 10 browser: Firefox
We don't need no stinkin' IE.

3. IE has still been polluting my computer, even though I now use Firefox
Spyware and Adware has still been installed on my computer. I guess it's because I still use the Windows OS, and IE is actually a shell, not just a browser. In other words, it's completely tied in ant integrated into Windows.

9. When I tried firefox it slowed my computer experience
and it took a couple days to find and remove it. I'll not go there again. I don't recommend it.

2. IE Sucks...
I have Mozilla (Firefox) and it is SO much better. And no security issues to worry about, as its security is much better as well.

4. Now if I could only remove IE completely from my computer.
IE has still been giving me spyware.

7. I'm making all my friends get Firefox AND Thunderbird
"Friends don't let friends use IE. Or vote Repuglican. Or drink Starbucks."

5. BITE ME MICROSOFT and it would be easy for you to do so
since I live 4-5 miles from billy gates.

Shitty SP2. You'll have to kill me to get it to fuck my PC up more than it already is.

6. I bet it will have tabs too
I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't copied that feature already. I'm staying with Firefox.

10. In the article, there was a "no comment" on tabbed browsing...
...so I'm sure it will be the same old IE with "added security features" that will be obsolete by the time they are released.

The "script kiddies" and "Slashdotters" will have "workarounds for ALL of the fixes. Microsoft just doesn't get it. I want to admire them for trying, but I just shake my head and ask "why bother?"

8. Unless IE7 provides me with a nightly foot massage, I'm not leaving FF.
I love FireFox and Thunderbird.

Bill, you can kiss my butt.

If you are reading this on IE, stop what you're doing and upgrade to FireFox.

11. ha, only for XP users. Convert (for a small $400 fee) or DIE!!!!!!!
no thanks. I'm not spending 400 on an OS (that'll be obsolete within two years itself) just to get a browser that's certain to be full of holes and require dozens of future patches.
