I was a HUGE Garfield fan when I was young (I really don't know why), and I had read every single daily strip from June 1978 to about mid-1996. Here's the behaviour of Garfield that I had deciphered over the years:
Very mean, insulting and abusive to Jon, his owner
Very mean and physically abusive to Odie, the dog
Would kill spiders at will and take pleasureable joy out of it
Very shiftless and lazy
Hated Mondays, even though he didn't work or have a job or a life (Not realising personal hypocrisy - A huge characteristic of the right)
Verbally abusive to his girlfriend, Arlene
Very entitled, bratty and spoiled
Very aversive to change
Very cowardly; he would be abusive and mean to people he knew couldn't fight back, but when it came to something that could fight back (i.e. vicious dog), he ran away like a sissy with his tail between his legs (literally)
Very gluttonous; He would eat all of Jon's food right in front of him and then insult him in his face
That's all I can think of right now, although I'm sure there's more. Garfield was like Mallard Fillmore without the politics. If he was a human, he'd be a RAGING right-wing neocon.
Discuss.
