help for the tech-unsavvy.... so the firewall signalled an attempt

to access my computer. Haven't done this in awhile - but where do I go to see if the groping computer is registered? I know, its most often telecommunication firms (esp telephone) - and harmless. Just want to check it out - but can't remember where to go to do this.

1. You'd have to identify your firewall

Generally, there have been thousands of pings over the last month, since the last rash of viruses. If you're anything like me, all (or almost all) of yours are from other users on your ISP. The firewall stops them, so they're harmless.

2. I recognize that it is probably harmless... but am looking for

the website that lets you take the address of the offending computer to see to whom (if available) said computer is registered.

3. Go to download.com and.........

D/L SamSpade. It will give you all the info you want and then some.
