DAmmit!!! I just stepped on a shard of glass in the kitchen.

I can't get it out with the usual needle and tweezers operation. It's way up in my foot...a tiny shard that I can't see, but that is hurting like hell.

What do I do? Will it eventually work its way out?

First my butt, then my foot. What's next??? :(

I had a piece of glass in my finger (from a broken car brake light bulb) that took several months to work its way out. Try some hydrogen peroxide if it's not in there too deep.

6. Um, I gave up after twenty minutes of trying to get it out.

I broke the end off that was closest to the skin surface. There's no way in hell I'm going to dig any deeper into my foot to get the rest out. Every time I touch it, it feels like an electric shock going through my food. Sorry, but I don't have the guts to put myself through anymore pain.

I posted because I was hoping that maybe a DUer had a more painless technique for getting glass out of one's foot.

14. There is no painless technique

Drink this glass of whisky, bite down real hard on this bullet, and use an X-Acto knife blade to cut the booger out.

Apply peroxide or rubbing alcohol when done. Drink all non-rubbing alcohol within reach.

Think of how you'll be able to gross out your co-workers tomorrow with the story of your self-surgery. That ought to give you some courage.

9. I broke a wine glass last week.

I had swept and mopped, but there evidently was some glass under the cabinet, so that when I swept awhile ago, I must have pulled it out into the middle of the floor.

I'm going to try again to get it out in a minute. I just couldnt' take any more pain on the first try.

watch your foot. If you see a red line running go to your doctor immediately. My mother was working on a fern, a piece of it went into her hand, almost had blood poisoning. Just watch your foot please. Rubbing alcohol will pull out bee stings, this might happen with glass, but I would check with your doctor.

13. Soak your foot in hot salt water.

it will draw. May draw the glass out. There is also a product at the drugstore called "Smile's Prid" it's a drawing salve. Call the drugstore and see if they have a drawing salve.

I used to get a homemade one until the old lady died. Her's drew a huge sliver out of my son's butt that he got when he slid down a board. I couldn't get it out so I put it on a bandage and the next morning the sliver was in the bandage.
