3. had one, but...
Okay, I was trying to sleep, and I kept hearing this annoying beep noise every 3 minutes (or so). That was the first thing I 'disabled' and it didn't solve the problem. Next was the carbon monoxide detector. Once that was 'disabled', the noise stopped happening. I never put a smoke detector back up. I should though. Stupid, stupid, stupid not to.

5. 5 on the main floor -- 2 in the attic -- 2 in basement
When we re-wired our older home, we had to bring it up to code. Unfortunately, code was intended for newer style homes with hallways -- ours is connected rooms.

When I burn dinner, the whole neighborhood knows it. LOL!

9. Mine goes off when I cook so sometimes I disconnect it
Its not that I burn stuff, the detector is just way too close to the stove. Kind of amusing though!
