Yeah, PBS is on my shit list for many reasons right now. The radio affiliate of one of the local PBS stations just pulled its major gig: it killed its classical music programming.

From its press release:

Washington, D.C. - The WETA Board of Trustees voted last night to change the format of WETA 90.9 FM to a news and public affairs format with expanded international coverage. Debuting at 5 a.m. on February 28, the new schedule features news reports, public affairs programs and newsmagazines with global reach from two of the most respected newsgathering organizations in the world: National Public Radio (NPR) and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The announcement was made last night by Sharon Percy Rockefeller, president and CEO of WETA, the flagship public broadcaster in the nation’s capital.

“As a public broadcaster, we provide a window on the world that expands horizons and deepens our sense of connectedness to diverse peoples, cultures and nations — a place of ideas, information and perspectives that can enrich people’s lives,” said Rockefeller. “With this new format, we are expanding our public service to our community.”

I beg to differ. You're destroying a centerpiece of good music in the Washington, DC, community.

translate into a rant against christians? I'm in perfect agreement that PBS should fight and whatnot and that 'christians' that hate gays aren't really christian, but i'm missing the connection between the two. Maybe i just need clarification, but it sounds like you're choosing what PBS did as an excuse to bash a religion you disagree with.

and am in agreement that there are certianly things that the christian church does that i completely disagree with. However, its one thing to fight when the time calls for it, like if a bishop were to say something. It's an entirely different thing when you actually look for and create the fight when it isn't necessarily there. it then just looks like you're bashing christianity in general instead of fighting against a certian injustice. I think it would help your cause greatly if you did it that way instead of looking like you're just lashing out randomly.
