3. "The Gates" are U-G-L-Y |
|
Saffron? Saffron?
Try, ugly construction site orange. :puke:
There's nothing whimsical or inspiring about their shape either, they seem like a great idea that went terribly askew.

4. They are reminiscent of Mao's China |
|
Just an impression, is all.
I don't see that they add anything to the park.

5. Isn't the whole point of Central Park to have a soothing |

reserve of a degree of nature?

7. Yes. That's also why some human littered it up with gitmo-worthy puke... |
|
In a most appropriate orange, no less. :-(

9. NYT letter.....26 miles of orange highway cones will do also |
|
One letter also praised the walls as something better than the stark gray of the Park right now. But that is what is so beautiful of central Park and any other park in the winter. Stark gray is beautiful. I love the picture of nature shutting itself down in winter only to renew itself in spring. Cristo and all their art only can work as long as it is there fleetingly. We like garish in small doses. The idea of the gates being up for months and years would repulse us. I'll eat these chips today because I can fast from them tomorrow.

10. Only good thing about the gates is that |
|
they'll help get Bush-Buddy Bloomberg the hell out of City Hall.
