1. Pearls

I graduated in 1981 and pearls were all the rage. I really wanted them and bought a string of pearls within a few months of starting work. Yes, it was a splurge but I never regretted it. Pearls go ion and out of style but they last a lifetime.

I visited China and Hong Kong in 1982 (again when pearls were the rage) and got an amazingly good deal on them. Had them appraised for insurance purposes when I returned home from the trip -- the appraisal was for 3 times what I paid for them.

17. Same here, and similar car, too....

White 1998 Honda Civic EX coupe. With exactly the options I wanted (CD changer in the trunk, spoiler, alarm, etc.) Sweet, sweet car, and has never given me a moments' trouble. I paid it off a little over a year ago, and now every time I go to get into it, I smile and think "it's all mine now!"

Not one second's regret on this purchase.

She is a beautiful approved and registered Oldenburg filly. I bought her last Christmas when she was 7 1/2 months old. I had just turned forty that year. Lots of sentimental things I could say in answer to the question, but the most satisfaction I've had from something obtained was my first house.

On edit... it was a very special house... built in 1820, an "eyebrow" colonial with rough hewn beamed ceilings and original plank wood floors... on six acres of land... I loved that house...

Being an avid camper, I was getting peeved at having to run my truck now and then to keep the battery up for my night reading.

I didn't like the noise, or the fumes.

I go to the bush for FRESH air and peacefulness, NOT to listen to my old 4x4 run, or smell it's exhaust!

So, . .

I bought a small 1.8 Watt panel that laid on the dash



It wasn't quite enuf, so I bought another one.


Finances improved, so I upgraded to a 5 Watt Panel,

which would connect directly to the battery(s), and not use up the lighter socket.



As I normally clear my campsites, usually by sitting on my butt with a brewskie nearby, I cut with a pair of garden shears, by hand, the grass around my "camp" to keep the bugs down, as well as for cosmetic appreciation.


This consumed about 4 hours or more each time I camped, so I came up with the idea of an Electric weed-eater, not wanting a stinky gas/oil thingy bouncing around inside my camper

SO - I bought myself a 15 watt panel to add to my 2- 1.8W & 5W - giving me 23.6W recharge capability in full sun





The 400 Watt Inverter


ran the weed eater quite nicely, and all them panels gave me the capability of running all the stuff that I wanted to - Including

MY COMPUTER :bounce:

A recent power outage here at home, made my "summer" equipment MOST appreciated, while the neighborhood was in total darkness, I was happily banging away on my keyboard, while others were scrambling to find that candle and matches that they had, somewhere ? :shrug:

MORE panels and batteries are budgeted for the future, and a larger inverter or two
