Name for me a "Democratic" state
One that is solidly Democratic. Governor, Senators, Reps, State houses, Dems in charge, in the majority, and solidly so.

Now.

After you've pondered that for a while, name for me a "Republican" state.

Sorry to be depressing.

4. Almost NY
Rep Governor, but he is quite liberal (compared to rabid conservatives).
2 DEM Senators
Majority DEM representatives (eek is that true ?)

I think this is pretty solid.

The sticks are majority knuckle draggers though

Cheers
Drifter

5. Partial results:
Just for govs, U.S. senators and reps. Takes too long to search all statehouse reps. You can do it here:http://www.conservativeusa.org/mega-cong.htm

repug: Alaska, Idaho, New Hampshire, Nothern Mariana Islands (gov only)

dem: American Samoa (gov), Washington D.C. (non-voting rep), Puerto Rico (gov and non-voting "delegate-at-large"), U. S. Virgin Islands (gov and non-voting d-a-l)

:-(

7. Maine, minus Senators
Governor, both Congressmen, both State House and State Senate are all in Democratic hands and even our US Senators are liberal at times.

8. Washington
is pretty solidly Democratic. Governor (lame duck), Senators, and Seattle-area reps (McDermott is mine) are Democrats, and they have control of both houses of the legislature (albeit not by a huge margin). Of course, we have our share of Republicans, and the eastern half of the state is pretty conservative. But overall, I'd call it a Dem state.

13. No Such Thing Anymore
We are going to have to struggle for every state,
while the Republicans have a lock on most of the states they need to win.

14. Don't I wish....
The sad fact is that the farther you are from Puget Sound, the scarier it gets. Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia are pretty safe, but it's pretty much Freeperville outside of that :scared:

Dem Gov. Two Dem Senators. My Representative is a Dem and the Representative in the next district is a Demcrat. I'd say that was pretty much a Democratic state. .

pushed through a redistricting plan giving them a 9-6 lead in Congress.

I was thinking more nationally. But the state House and Senate don't seem to do much of anything.

Dems are in charge here. We have one Repub Senator (Fitzgerald), but he's not running for re-election and is quite moderate. At least by Repub standards.

Republican State? I can name a few. Idaho, Texas, Mississippi...

21. Mississippi isn't quite so Republican
The Governor is a Dem, I believe. And the legislature may well be Dem-controlled as well.

Of course, Mississippi Dems aren't exactly the same as Massachusetts Dems, but they are still Dems.

:-)

12. NJ
Lautenberg, Cozine (!), my rep. happens to be turncoat Rob Andrews who is technically a Dem. McGreavy (D) is governor but is facing discontent similar to ole Gray's. We were solidly for Gore in 2000 and will be solidly for notbush in 4. New Jersey and Democrats: Pullfict Togethel. (sorry)

15. CT?
I'm originally from CT, and by my count, they have 2 Dem senators, 4 of 6 Dem reps, and both houses of the assembly. If they could just indict that criminal Rowland CT could be on its way...
