My cat is very sick.
He is old, but I don't think it is a leap to say that he is the love of my life. I love him so much and the thought of him being sick makes me sick. I hope he can recover somewhat from this setback, but I just can't imagine having to give him up. I can't even think of it.

Please send prayers, good thoughts, positive energy and healing vibes to my little critter. He had a bad night, so I hope that tommorow is better.

5. I wish you both the best.
I hope he isn't in any pain.
I have two cats who are like my children, so I can imagine how you must feel.

17. Although...
...kidney problems are a frequent cause of death for cats, it doesn't follow that they are always fatal. Oftentimes, at the very least, treatment can lead to a "remission" of a year or more, and this cycle can repeat itself. For example, one of my cats eventually succumbed to the disease, but, before that, had been successfully treated twice, and lived quite comfortably for about four years. And, sometimes, treatment will bring about freedom from the disease for the rest of the cat's life.

9. If he likes
to be held, hold him. My Sunday Girl is getting so old now that I am afraid I'll be in the same boat soon. I dread it. I think she is my soul mate if that is possible. She has a sense of humor of all things for a cat to have. I wish you and your cat the best. I don't want to sound like a commercial here, but any amount of time you can have with them is priceless. Sincerely.

11. Sending positive thoughts to you and your fur baby...
I too have been there. Kidney disease is horrible, but so common in cats. Of the two cats I lost within the past two years, one was dealing with long term kidney disease (since 1999). We kept her going for almost five years from the start of the disease and she had a good quality of life almost right up to the end. Spend as much quality time as you can with your baby - life is too short for them and not long enough for us to enjoy them.

12. I know too well how you feel.
I just recently lost one of mine. She had a brain tumor. Ultimately I put her down rather than let it get to the point where quality of life was replaced by suffering. It was so hard for me to do it. I still cry sometimes. I hope your kitty will be better soon and that the two of you will have more good times together. No matter what though, he knows you love him, and no kitty ever wanted more than that. Sincere best wishes to you both.

14. Kidney problems in cats can sometimes be kept in check with diet changes
and possibly medications. Your vet will have the best advice. Both of my cats developed kidney problems in their old age, and changing their diet helped.
