Do you code while drunk and wake confused about how you made it work?

I had to Google to find out what nl2br was the next morning. I remember the problem. Fixing the problem is a bit fuzzy. sigh

I used to code while sick and strung out on painkillers and antihistamine all the time.

I'd come in to work an hour late, looking like hell, dragging my butt bagel (an inflatable ring) and a shopping bag full of meds bottles, sugar-free soda, soup and salad, plop myself down and a few hours later The Boss would drop by and oooh and aaah at the results of my fever-driven oeuvre.

Comments made me look good. Comments made it work.

9/11 and offshoring brought that episode of my life to a close, alas!

2. I recently tried to modify an application I had written

a couple of years ago and found that I had used variable names like 'bob' , 'bob2' 'bob3' etc. I used to do this when tired or in a hurry. What a mess.

3. Drunk doesn't describe it

My boyfriend was a speedfreak. So I'd end up doing several dozen lines with him, then at home realize that I wouldn't be sleeping for weeks and drink enormous amounts of vodka in the hope that I would eventually pass out. Of course I didn't. What I did do was work. Write code, design web pages.

Then days later - sober, solid - I'd look at it and think "Buddyboy you outdid yourself that's so damn cool". But I had no idea what I had actually done or how to do it again...
