CONFESS!!!! Biggest Purchasing Regret

Did you ever buy something and end up not only not using it but never returning it. In a nutshell you bought crap and it's sitting in the corner somewhere collecting dust. Would have been better to have just burned the money instead.

I'm sure there are plenty of things I could mention but the one I remember the most is a Stair Master that I bought back in 1989. I spent a couple hundred dollars on it (and I wasn't making much back then) only to turn it into basically a coat rack. I finally sold it about 2 years later for $75.

1. A Phantom Fury vacuum cleaner. Expensive piece of crap.

Made of all plastic. and then the company went out of business and parts were impossible to get. :hi:

and they all don't suck. I hate vacuums.

3. I bought a 86 Renault Encore because the interior smelled like pot

It apparently had been used as a courier car. I tore the thing apart looking for where they hid it because the smell never went away (taillight compartment). The car was a complete lemon, with an electrical system short about once a week, but I was always HAPPY when I was driving it!

22. Renault Encore

I had a 86 Renault Encore that did the exact same thing with the electrical system. My friends all called it DeGaulle's Revenge. I called it my Cross of Lorraine. My aunt, bless her, after about a year, gave me a monetary gift (she was going into an adult care facility and distribuing her money so that the family got some use out of it) that allowed me to pay off the loan and buy something more reliable.

7. iPod

I've had it since Christmas. It's really a great piece of equipment. But I just don't listen to music through headphones that much. I had reservations buying it. Maybe I should have listened to myself. I'm sure it'll be good for road trips. And I do listen to it sometimes when I go for a walk. But I don't think it's been worth the money.

27. a Ciusinart Grind & Brew

I am a gadget freak AND a coffee snob, so this had instant, intense appeal for me. After a week of using it, I absolutely HATED the thing--it made a huge mess of the inside of the machine, and was the biggest pain in the ass to clean every night. And the quality of the coffee it brewed in no way made up for that inconvenience.

I ended up selling it on eBay for very close to what I paid for it on sale at Macys, so at least I came away with minimum financial pain.
