A Mighty Wind - Anyone Else Seen It?
I just rented the DVD yesterday. What an excellent diversion! Christopher Guest does another outstanding job, this time on a "folk-umentary." Musicians in the Lounge will appreciate a number of in jokes, and Guest is both perfect and priceless as an aging folk singer whose voice is disintigrating into not much more than a bleat. The rest of the cast is equally talented and hilarious, featuring many of the same actors that Guest used in Guffman and Best in Show.

Make sure you watch the extra features and scenes included on the DVD.

Appropriately enough, I watched this yesterday as the recall fiasco was unfolding. As the final song in the movie says, "A Mighty Wind is blowing...it's blowing you and me." That about says it all.

I was weaned on old Kingston Trio and Limelighters records, thanks to my Mom. This stuff hit the mark!

3. That whole cast is just so amazingly hilarious...
Christopher Guest could put out movie after movie and I would watch every one of them...

That gives me an idea. I need to begin a Christopher Guest DVD section for my home...

4. Did you know the Folkmen once opened for Spinal Tap?
And were roundly booed by the audience. Could parody and irony be any more intertwined?

5. Bril
I like the line about how "This stuff is kinda retro, but back when we were doing it it was Now-tro!" I'm going to have to buy it. I watched it 2 nights in a row and it was even funnier the second time I saw it. I love all Guest's films.

12. I really liked Best in Show, but I just couldn't finish Mighty Wind
I've never been a folk music fan, so maybe that's it. Or maybe I'm just dense.

13. I loved the Bob Balaban character
there seems to be one of those involved in every stage production, ie: the total novice who is bankrolling the production, has no idea how anything works but proceeds to demand things be changed. When the Town Hall guy finally just hits him in the head...priceless!

Guest has a marvellous way of unveiling the truly embarrassing side of "performers," and he does it with economy, grace and affection. Bravo!

14. IT WASNT ME! Great film..and wonderful soundtrack too!!!!
I loved this film from start to finish..While not as many laughs as best in show it was still VERY VERY enjoyable ..I loved the soundtrack too..From the ode to procrastination in " never did no wanderin" to the VERY strange tale of a crew in " fare away" ..I highly reccomend this movie

15. I'm getting it this afternoon
I've played Guitar for over 35 years. I learned it because I've loved folk music since I was a little kid (thanks Mom!). I know hundreds of traditional tunes, especially Celtic stuff but also most of the more well known songs from the "folk revival" of the '60's. I also play Rock N' Roll of course and I love Spinal Tap. I know this movie will hit me where it hurts and I can't wait.

And yes, all Christopher Guest's flicks are laugh out loud funny. What a great ensemble he's assembled. I'm pretty sure most of his movies are improvised. I dunno for sure though. Most of the cast come from Second City, the improvisational comedy troupe.

17. I'm not a folk fan and I loved it!
I was interested in the movie based on watching Waiting for Guffman a few years ago (same cast, another mockumentary)

Hilarious!

"Hey, Wha'Happened?"

"I Don't Think Soooooooooo!"

'Look for the busted neon sign that reads, "E...A...OE'S!"

Great cast of Actors!I wish they'd do a movie about an election!Who better than this team to mock a presidentital election?
