I used to work for HMV in a mall that had Sam's for competition. (Both big record stores with a certain amount of rivalry, my American friends.)

Back when she was a Paula Abdul knock-off known only by her first name, she did an instore appearance at HMV to promote her first album which contained the single "Too Hot".

Well, as tradition dictated, the store manager asked her to sign her autograph in the back room to commemorate her visit. Enthusiastically, she wrote out in huge letters, "Sam's is TOO HOT!"

She was just a fluffy bit of mandatory Canadian content back then, so it got painted over pretty quickly.
