My niece is getting married this weekend and I

am not happy about it.

Her mother is VERY religious....WAY religious. My niece is pregnant and unmarried. She is due in May.

Because she and her soon to be husband would like to stay at her mom's house until the baby is born my sister is forcing the marriage issue. She will not let them sleep together in her house if they are unmarried. I can understand that, her house-her rules, but hey, the deed is done. Not allowing them to sleep together NOW will not make my niece less pregnant, ya know?

So, my niece is getting married. I find getting married just because you are pregnant the least firm of foundations on which to start a marriage. My niece is 21 as is her soon to be husband. Neither has a good job and neither has health insurance. My niece is currently having her medical bills paid by Medicaid (a program that would not exist if her political party had their way).

Maybe it will work out but I am not optimistic. I just hope she does not follow her mom's example and stay in a bad marriage, just because divorce is looked down upon in her community.

1. Can't say I blame you

My kid sister married a guy because she got preggers -- and the fuck turned into a crack addict. I kid you not. She was only 18 at the time, too.

The ass even sold off the major family appliances to support his habit, and LITERALLY took food back to the store for a refund.

If my sister hadn't been in such a hurry to marry her sperm donor, she could've done a lot better.

Am I bitter? Angry? Yes, this was one little girl who was NOT ready for a baby, and worse yet, her husband turned into our family's worst nightmare.

2. That's a sad situation.

I have a relative in the same position. It's always scary when two people get married just because of a child...very bad reasoning. I wish all of you the best of luck. :)

3. Subject that hits my heart....

My only daughter, 30, single and struggling in Law School, met some guy and he moved into her beautiful house. My daughter has everything financially going for her and she worked for it. After a while, my daughter was finding money gone from her purse. Later her jewelry was gone. She found herself pregnant from the guy. She miscarried the baby and ended up with lots of medical bills. The guy took off on her, leaving her to face her financial and emotional problem all alone.

My daughter later told me that the guy had served 3 years in jail and was on parole. I felt, thank God she's not pregnant and he's gone.

Somehow the guy calls my daughter from another state and she drove down to pick him up, and moves in again with her. Since we don't live in the same state, I didn't know all this was going on. She calls me again crying and upset. The police raided her house and the guy is back in jail. Thank God my daughter is not in jail for transporting a criminal across state lines. FOLKS, AND SHE'S PREGNANT AGAIN.

How can someone be so smart and stupid, stupid, stupid. I have to bite my tongue because she's never been the type to listen to me. If I said left, she said right...etc. This really hurts but it's out of my hands. My first grandchild will be the child of a criminal and a stupid woman.
