David Niven played "Sir James Bond" in Casino Royale, which was really a send up of Bond flicks, not a bona fide Bond movie.

George Lazenby appeared in only one Bond flick, On Her Majesty's Secret Service. He is best forgotten.

On the other hand, Roger Moore appeared as Bond in more films than any other actor, and he is best forgotten, too.

And the music is great on it's own. The only way to watch it is to just let it take you where it will. Directed by 5 different egomaniacs who refused to cooperate with each other. Its an amazing example of getting everything wrong. Camp doesn't begin to describe it.

I totally love Roger Moore as Bond. Brosnan is a very close second. Sean was good too, but only just good when compared to the other two, who are perfect. IMO, of course.

By making Pierce #2. I figured Sean was a cinch for #1, not Roger. Shows how little insight I have into others' tastes. You're female, right? So what has Roger got that Sean and Pierce don't? (No challenge -- I really would like to understand.)

I like Roger's Bond in that he seems a little more sophisticated, a little smoother, also with more of a touch of humor, and seems more appreciative of the women he encounters (which I also like about Pierce's version, though that may be a factor of the times, too - female co-stars moving more into the roles of full-fledged partners rather than just "conquests"). In the end it may just come down to individualized visual appeal and teen-aged hormones. I'm well past the teenage stage (thank gods!), but that's when I first discovered the Bond films in TV reruns. Lots of fond memories. :) And yes, I'm female.

Okay, back at you ... what do you love about Sean's Bond? Asking in the same spirit, to get another fan's perspective....

Sean is physical, masterful, and was very young and tough, a "man's man," especially in the best early Bond films, "From Russia With Love," "Dr. No", "Thunderball" and "Goldfinger." I was a 10 year old boy when I first saw Sean do "Dr. No." WOW! What a stud! Then, when I saw "From Russia With Love" (in a re-release), I saw Sean deal with bad guys, skin-dive, wear black tuxedoes, travel, play cards, golf, and deal with spaghetti-strap evening gowns with great skill.

Very impressive to the 10-14 year old set, i.e., me, from 1963-1967.

David Niven played James Bond in the second version of the movie Casino Royale. These were the actors that portrayed James Bond on the Silver screen. Casino Royale is not considerred part of the Bond universe as it was a parody. But Niven did play the character James Bond. Incidently Casino can throw another loop into the mix because part way through the movie all the agents get their name changed to James Bond 007 to throw off the bad guys.

The second problem comes from the first version of Casino Royale. Filmed in 1954 it was made for tv (CBS) and never shown on the silver screen. Barry Nelson was the first man to play James Bond on film(though not on the silver screen).
