Can someone fucking explain to me
How you can even have a conversation about something without making a "stereotyped" statment?

I mean fuck, if I wanna say "Well, most people on that end of town are opposed to that project." DO we need to make a fucking federal issue out of that being a "Stereotype" I mean for fuck sakes, why even bother having a conversation if you're gonna just sit around maming sure we don't accidentally stereotype a group?

Fuck.

3. Communication is an art
Every person brings their own unique experiences and problems to a conversation. To expect them to instantly mesh with the raw untempered inner you is perhaps expecting too much.

6. Stereotyping is a evil necessity for us humans to make sense of our world
However, MOST humans with a well functioning cerebral cortex can also consider the individual case to confirm or refute the common stereotype.

Now, I could easily make a stereotype that folks who have a need to use the word "fuck" in every other sentence are taking some underlying issue far too seriously.

But I will not give into that temptation. ;)

41. Characterizing a group of people
by one attribute of one (or a small number) of the group is a stereotype. Stating that a group of people are opposed to (or in favor of) an ad hoc situation isn't.

12. Yes
to some degree there is a way. I learned this in ACA 111 in college. If you use words like always, never, ever, all, or none, chances are the statement is false. If you use words like most, usually, occasionally, some, few, more, less, and sometimes, the statement is usually true. If you'll just point that little useless factoid of information out to them you could possibly make the fact that I had to take that useless class worth it.

14. RIghto!
That's what I think set me off is I said (At least the second time for sure) "Most" and she still said I was stereotyping.

I was about to say "By your line of reasoning, what's the point in even talking to anyone?"

20. Sometimes
it's best to stick to your point. That actually sounds like a tactic often used to change the subject. You may have been winning the debate and the other person was afraid that if they let you finish your point, they'd lose.

15. All Conversation Starts with Generalizations
Although most social science professors in college try to drill into their students the premise that "all generalizations are bad."

100% political correctness is impossible. Even if it were, it would be B-O-R-I-N-G.

27. reminds me of another SNL skit
this American was doing stand-up in colonial America circa 1774. Most of his jokes were about the Brits. Then three Brits come into the bar, and start grumbling and rattling sabers at his jokes. So he gets nervous and ends his next joke with "what do I know, I am just a dumb colonist" and the British roar with laughter, so he makes that the tagline of all his jokes (as the skit ends).

28. I cannot believe you are making a stereotype
of the way people criticize your sterotypes. That is such a caricature of reality, and your histrionic hyperbole does not help either. That is so typical of young male Canadians too.
Really, if you would just read some of my brilliant and funny posts and tried to emulate them, you would not have all these problems with stereotyping. At least no one would ever accuse you of that anymore. Instead they would say you are a bigot, or a reactionary, or sexist, or a troll, and for some reason ask about your pizza preferences. That is, if they bothered to respond to your posts at all.
Don't talk to me about life.

34. we HAVE to have stereotypes
if we didnt have them, the brain would work a LOT slower analyzing everything. we have to have schemas for a lot of stuff.

now, we should definately be careful of how we apply the stereotypes, but it is unreasonable to expect total non-stereotyping all the time

36. It's impossible to post in GD sometimes.
I play it very safe, but sometimes I'd just like to go off on several people (thank God for ignore).

As an aspiring comedy writer, I just don't understand the extremes some here go to be politically correct. A sense of humor can be the most potent weapon a liberal has, as conservatives have none. If that's so, then why do so many try to forsake it?
