14. Oh I couldn't stand it.

I have a moderate ability to engage in "willful suspension of disbelief." But that movie went SO FAR past my limits, I was laughing at how terrible it was.

The one thing I liked: the special effects were outstanding. A+. But it was way too much to cram into a movie, and special effects just aren't going to carry you when the rest of the movie is so rotten.

Perfect movie to see if you want a dramatization of how things like the Stanford prison experiment and Abu Gharib go.

Damn, this is a terrific film, even if it's hard to pick up the dialogue the first few times you see it (Stahaaaf!!!). All the shouting British accents in the enclosed echoing spaces makes for a tough listen.

That said, it's quite memorable, and it's got a shocking ending that still gets to me.

26. The Molly Maguires

I'm convinced this movie was suppressed for years because of the similarity between this 19th century group of immigrant Irish and the Black panthers who were accendent when it was released. It's a sympathetic potriat that raises question about whether sometimes violence is the way to address injustice. I'm not saying it advocates violence, but it allows the viewer to learn where the vilence comes from.

Richard Haris plays opposite Sean Connery. Now that's a match-up!
