1. I use oriental and homeopathic remedies. . .
But here's a simply oriental one. . .

slice up a handful of Quarter (24 cent) sized pieces of Ginger
dice up a bunch of scallions

simmer in boiling water for about 20 minutes

add brown sugar or honey to taste

drink a lot of it

hope you feel better

3. I still have it and this is the first semi-decent day out of the last 5
I am using aspirin, robitussin, drinking plenty of water, and getting plenty of rest. If you don't have a cough or heavy congestion, I wouldn't bother with robitussin. Between my high fever and chills, I was lucky to be out of bed more than a half hour a day the last few days. The flu is something I'd wish on my worst enemy.

10. I didn't eat for 3 days; I just wasn't hungry and it was too much of
an effort for my level of strength to even open a can of something. Talk about extreme fatigue! I know it's hard to sleep, but still, doesn't it feel better to lay down than sit up? I hope you are laying down with about 4 or 5 blankets. On the CDC website they have some tips on medications, etc.

5. Home remedies have a place, but you need to control the fever.
And if you develop a cough, you need to control the cough.

Otherwise, you will just feel worse.

I'm just recovering, I was taking Advil every six hours and a decongestant. But herbal teas like peppermint and chamomile laced with ginger, clove and even red pepper flakes can help. And hot toddies are very comforting. (Whiskey, honey, and hot tea or water) And of course, the time and mother tested chicken noodle soup. Additional vitamin C can't hurt either. :D

I hope you get better soon. For me, it was a week. Hubby was sick a bit longer, but his was worse.

9. Hubby used Nyquil. Which says a lot.
He hates to take medicine, and he's a physician. And he's quite adamant about the Advil. And Chamomile tea can be relaxing, but it won't make you sleep. But it can help.

6. Advil for the aches and fever, Hot Tea with Honey & Lemon for the throat…

…Orange Juice, Chicken Soup and Plenty of REST. 'round the clock if necessary.

Coricidin if your cough won't quit (use their HBP formula if you have High Blood Pressure).

And somebody nearby to fluff your pillows is nice. :)
