What's for supper?
Tony's making meat loaf, mashed potatoes, red-cabbage slaw, hard rolls and spiced peaches.

5. Coconut shrimp, cottage fries, Italian salad.
I didn't vote for the cottage fries, don't seem to go with the shrimp. I would have preferred some kind of rice dish.
But miz t. has a jones for cottage fries tonight, and so be it.

21. Pig's tails and ears?
"This hearty pork stew has its origins in Spain and Latin America. Pig's tails and ears can be specially ordered from some butchers. Chorizo is a spicy Spanish sausage, look for it in some grocery stores and Latin markets. Pancetta is an Italian-style bacon. It makes a wonderful and filling meal. Be sure and serve it with lots of fresh bread!" Original recipe yield: 8 servings.

1 pound dry garbanzo beans
1 pig's tail, cut into 1 inch pieces
2 pig's ears, chopped
1 pound chorizo, sliced into chunks
1/2 pound pork shoulder, cubed
6 ounces pancetta bacon, diced
1 onion, chopped
3 carrots, coarsely chopped
4 stalks celery, chopped
6 cloves garlic, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 1/2 teaspoons Hungarian sweet paprika
salt and pepper to taste

26. umm
not really, the mexican version (that i cook) is simply stewed chunks of cubed pork tenderloin sauteed with onions and garlic that i let simmer for about an hour in a tomatillo based sauce.

kinda heavy on the cilantro/cumin type flavors with a few potatoes thrown in for good measure. very simple, very inexpensive meal.

but the recipe you posted doesn't sound half bad.

24. Oh yeah???
Maybe you'll like this then, Archae-

Tortilla chips with beef barbecue, shredded cheddar and onions sprinkled liberally over the top. Then, some hot salsa and sour cream dolloped on the side! Come to think of it, that seems like a good idea at the time, but the next morning...

For dessert, there's Jon Stewart, a cigarette, a glass of Shiraz and a kitten on the couch. Bon Appetit, all of you!

23. The latest phase of my experimentation...
Mom's going down to my grandparents' for the weekend, so I'm on my own. She left really detailed directions for tuna and noodle casserole. I've made it before with satisfying results, but not often enough not to be jittery as hell whether it'll taste right or not. Wish me luck!
