The liger gets most of its strength and size from both of its parents; this makes the liger possibly the largest cat in the world! On their hind legs, ligers stand approximately 12 feet tall. At most, ligers may weigh up to 1,000 pounds. Ligers make the sound of both a lion and a tiger, although their roar tends to sound more like a lion's roar.

6. I have a question...
Is it sterile? We know that mules are a cross between horses and donkeys, but are sterile, so I wonder if the liger is too?

8. One site said they were USUALLY sterile- another said
they could breed.

You should have seen about 10 of us at work today HYSTERICAL over the fact that ligers exist.

9. There's a stuffed one on display at the SLC zoo
or at least there was 20 some years ago when I was a kid. I was fascinated by the display for some reason, but also really bothered. now I know why (besides the creepiness of...immortalized animals. "stuffed animals" is incorrect, but am so tired can't think of the technical term)
