My second anniversary.

I joined DU two years ago today -- October 8, 2001 -- because I could no longer stand to read and not participate because of the depth of my anger and anguish after the bombing of Afghanistan began. For the record, I had found DU a few weeks after the inauguration after surfing for * jokes, and Top 10 Conservative Idiots of the Week popped up during a Google search. For many months (and for various reasons) I lurked, but I read and read.

On this occasion, I want to thank DU for being here, because sharing ideas with like-minded people is important to me and has helped me get through some bad times in this country. I also have made some terrific friends here, and for that as well, I am forever grateful.

Hard to believe so much time has gone by. We certainly have been through an awful lot of shit together. My second anniversary is sometime this month too. Can't remember the exact date.

6. I started about 2 years ago as well

I don't recall the exact date, but it was soon after 9/11. I was desperate for some liberal discussion. I think I found DU through Michael Moore's site, but I can't say for sure. I have a tendency to follow link to link while surfing, and sometimes I can't remember how I got to a particular site. :-)
