I just changed my mobile phones carrier. Was it the right thing to do?

I went from Nextel to Cingular. Nextel plans cost an arm and a leg. and I hate their NASCAR relationship. Also, they merged with Sprint and Sprint is on my shitlist. I can't remember why they are on the list but I know it was for a good reason so I stay away from their services. T-Mobile is not available here, Verizon has a poor coverage area. I used to be with Cingular and hated them, they had crappy coverage. But now that they have merged with AT&T their network is supposed to be the biggest.

I hate buyer's remorse. I always do this. I second guess everything. When I eat out I immediately change my mind as soon as the waiter walks away with my order. I have been known to go shopping, have a cart full of stuff and then decide I don't want or need any of it. I then go back through the store and unshop, putting everything back where it belongs.

I love to shop but I hate to buy. If I stay in the store long enough I will always leave with nothing. If I run in and impulse shop I get home with crap I don't want or need. Does this fall under OCD?

What is wrong with me? And now back to my original post: Did I make a mistake by switching phone carriers?

1. The way they are starting to merge,

you will have fewer and fewer choices for carriers. So I don't think it makes much difference what carrier you go with these days. I have had a cell phone for over ten years and have had service with almost every company out there. They are all pretty much the same, IMO. I have Sprint now and I like it. It's world headquarters is in my home town - that is the main reason I chose Sprint. And I have been happy with them.

I wish you could keep your phone when you switch. The phones are expensive.

2. Cingular definitely has a larger network than Nextel

They did even before the merger (the Cing/ATT merger), and they will even after the Sprint/Nextel merger.

I do this for a living, and usually I hate it, but it can pay well.

I sell 5 companies where I work - Nextel, Sprint, Cingular, Alltel, and SunCom (a regional player).

Most people who are with Nextel are kinda "hooked" on the walkie-talkie thing - usually for business contacts - which keeps Nextel thriving in its niche.

Oddly, the latest word from Sprint on the merger stated the plan was to move Nextel's current technology toward Sprint's current technology - a rediculous move imho.

As far as Verizon - they have good coverage here, but every dealing I've ever had with them was met with a really obnoxious attitude. And the other carriers here beat the heck out of Verizon as far as airtime for the $$.

I think you'll be happier with Cingular. But if there is one truth in wireless, its if you are expecting the service to live up to its hype, you will be dissappointed.

3. I did a lot of research and switched to Cingular

a few weeks ago. I hope I made the right choice.

4. I've had Cingular for over two years.

I've been very happy with them. I never have to worry about going over my minutes ( I always have thousands of excess minutes by years end ). Their service has been good too.
