Shouldn't Ray Liotta be in more Gangster Movies?
Am I crazy?

Cop Land is on behind (I know not necessarily a "gangster movie" but close) me as I browse DU and I've never seen it, but from out of the corner of my ear, it seems Ray Liotta is putting on a heck of a performance. Am I wrong? Please tell me, I could be.

Goodfella's is one of my favorite movies, btw.

1. Ray Liotta is perfect in gangster movies
but the role he played that I loved the most was in Field of Dreams, in which he played "Shoeless" Joe Jackson.

He is a fine actor.

He was really good on ER, he delievers a killer performance every time.

I think it's his eyes, he uses them a lot in his acting.

"Dominick and Eugene". He was the doctor, and Tom Hulce played his somewhat developmentally delayed twin brother. And then it turns out (which Liotta really did not remember) that Hulce's brain injury was the result of a beating he got from their father while trying to protect Liotta as a child.
Great movie.

5. I don't know who Ray Liotta pissed off to become such an underrated

actor

He's really good in all his movies, even the action one he did ( I've forgotten the name of it, but it's the typical militarty commando has the tables turned on him - ends up in jail - thinks/fights his way off the desert island deal).

It's a movie similar to the Kurt Russel bomb "Soldier" which sucked all sorts of ass, but perhaps, on a good day, after a decent supply of blowjobs and smack/or soft tender deeply loving snuggling/whichever may float his boat, Ray Liotta could've pulled it off. Kurt Russel for damn sure didn't, however he did just fucking awesome in Tombstone, so he is forgiven for "Soldier".

7. Don't type-cast Ray
In the future, he will probably attempt to expand into comedy, as De Niro.

He's even typecasted in video games.

15. Even in "Field of Dreams,"
his eyes really shone through. Liotta is one fine actor I'd like to see more of, gangster picture or not.
btw, I remember reading awhile back that the cast of Goodfella's had a reunion dinner to comemorate the film. I would've loved to seen that.
