1. Running to Stand Still
is probably my favorite after all these years. As for why, I guess I've just always enjoyed the imagery and thought it was an underappreciated gem on Joshua Tree. I've had various favorites over the years, so it's hard to say for sure, but I'd probably stick with that one more often than any other.

2. Bad

The live version from Wide Awake In America. Why? I think it's their best song live, and I used to listen to it a lot when I was driving home from college, roof open, under the stars, just really beautiful.

They're my favorite band, though, so my favorite song changes from time to time. It was Even Better Than The Real Thing for a while...

4. That would be Udo Lindenberg's "Sonderzug nach Pankow"
Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 10:16 AM by Kellanved
Or, in English: "The Express Train to Pankow".

It is a song about the Singer being banned from singing in the GDR, based on Glenn Miller's Chattanooga Choo Choo. Pankow is the district, where the GDR Elite used to reside.

Today the Subway Line two, the "U2" has it's final destination in Pankow, hence it really is the "Express Train to Pankow".

:P

11. My favorite album as well........................
tied with Boy. I like some of their recent stuff, but not near as much as the first three LP's.

6. Pride
a great, rousing anthem. Sadly I have met people who have no clue about the final verse. :-(

12. "Gloria"
What a masterpiece of a U2 creation. The guitar work in that song is much more complicated than any other U2 song I can think of. I don't think they have really bested that song, yet.

13. Stuck in a Moment
It always made me teary and emotional for some reason. It's one of the few post-1990 U2 songs I actually even like, yet it's my favorite:

I'm not afraid
Of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me
That I haven't already heard

I'm just trying to find
A decent melody
A song that I can sing
In my own company

I never thought you were a fool
But darling look at you
You gotta stand up straight
Carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere Baby

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And now you can't get out of it

Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I will not forsake
The colors that you bring
The nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing

I am still enchanted
By the light you brought to me
I listen through your ears
Through your eyes I can see

And you are such a fool
To worry like you do
I know it's tough
And you can never get enough
Of what you don't really need now
My, oh my

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

Oh love, look at you now
You've got yourself stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I was unconscious, half asleep
The water is warm 'til you discover how deep

I wasn't jumping, for me it was a fall
It's a long way down to nothing at all

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if our way should falter
Along the stony pass

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if your way should falter
Along this stony pass

It's just a moment
This time will pass
