1. No, just geeks.
And it's unfortunate, because I'm a stargate fan too.

3. everybody has a level of geek-ta-tude
level 1-you watch regularly its a good distraction after a days worth of hard work

Level 2-you catch each episode, the plot and acting are good, and the stories are well written

Level 3- Level 2 plus You buy the season DVD's

Level 4-this is where the line starts to blur, your a level 3 plus you start pondering the effects of a zat gun on the cat

Level 5- you know the full name for the zat gun

Level 6-you cut an egyption design in your forehead and pour molten gold into it

Level 7-you have all the episode numbers memorised, and you can name off 100 quotes from each episode

Level 8-you show up to sci-fi con in a full replica of a Snake Head Guard

Level 9-you build a mock up stargate in your basement

Level 10-you build a working staff weapon

4. I always figured linguists had to be Star Gate (the movie) fans.
It's one of the few in which the linguist gets the girl.

11. Kuni?
I'm sort of out of the sci-fi/science fiction/fantasy/role-playing/Magic loop since I left UCLA and it's club, Enigma, behind.

Google turns up at least one japanimation site, a radio station, and a pianist.... I'm lost.

9. My wife has a "cunning linguist" pin that she has in her office ...
she didn't wear it on the on-campus visit, though.

16. I don't mind being a Trekkie.
I've never considered it a derrogatory term. And even non-sci-fi buffs know what you mean when you say "I'm a Trekkie."
