What do the people here at DU think about LaRouche?

I have to do a paper on Lyndon LaRouche for my government class, and from my quick googling, and asking my dad (who met him when he worked for Carter), I found out that he's a convict, and pretty out there. Does anyone have any good links, or other info about him? Thanks in advance.

We get lots of LaRouche supporters here in NYC with their little tables lof flyers and stuff, and even the people handing out information seem one or two steps into the Twighlight Zone already.

he seemed to exist mainly to turn non-violent demonstrations against the war violent. He was considered to be part of Cointelpro, the dirty tricks campaign by Nixon, along with Tommy the Traveler.

Maybe the other comment on here is why a post I made in GD last night got NO NO NO responses.

I'm trying to learn about the guy myself - I ran into some kids working on his campaign and talked to them a little bit.

I wondered why I hadn't heard of this guy and was told that some people accuse him of being anti-semetic - but that a lot of this info was some sort of smear campaign. The guy had LOTS of info to back up what he was saying, but I don't remember all of the particulars and because I haven't researched these things myself I have no opinion on whether he is or isn't. It is interesting though - and after seeing the neo-con freaks and their smear campaigns I can see how it could be possible.

One thing I know - the guy HATES Cheney and thinks he is the cause of all evils from the CA recall to the leak about Plume to get back at Wilson.

I'm hoping someone can answer your question with detail, as I am trying to figure this guy out myself.

I'd never heard of this buy before recently, and I only know enough to make me curious.
