Friday Night Lights-the greatest sports movie ever made!!! *SPOILERS*
Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 04:26 PM by pres2032
My God, I saw it last night and wow, it was such an amazing movie. You really felt for those kids, I felt sorry for the kid with the abusive father (played excellently by Tim Mcgraw). Billy Bob Thorton's speech at the end was amazing and I wish IMDB had the whole thing up. I was actually cheering along with the crowd when they scored and was heartbroken when they lost at the end and i cried when the father gave his son his ring. If i hadn't had to return it today I'd watch it again in a heartbeat.
anyone else think friday night lights was an amazing movie?

edit: and the soundtrack! never expected it, but loved every note. It was the perfect fit for the movie!

4. If you liked the movie, you might enjoy the book too
Buzz Bissinger did a bang up job on it

A friend protested that she didn't like football. I said that was fine, it wasn't actually ABOUT football - it was about high school, about public education, and about small-town life in Texas.

8. i may definitely get the book now
and yeah, it definitely isn't just about football, but i do think it's a main part of it and the fanatacism of the town for their team. A point made clear at that resurant when the family got the QB's picture taken with their little baby. You are right that it is certianly about HS life and life in small-town texas.

5. I LOVED that movie, and I'm no huge football fan by any stretch
But I couldn't believe how engaging it was. I saw it on a flight from Houston Tuesday night. I loved how the ending wasn't at all what I expected. And the young actors did a great job, particularly the kid playing Boogie.

And I admit, it cracked me up that they used the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog" as part of the soundtrack at the beginning of the second half in the Astrodome. :D Interesting musical selection.

I just picked up the book the other day and will be reading it soon.

7. Same here, flamingyouth!
I don't care about football one way or the other. I went to our high school games when I knew the kids on the team, but that is about it.

I loved this movie! And I think it is going to be the first time in my life that I read a book because I saw the movie first.

9. yeah, while it is a football movie
there is certianly enough for people who don't like football. It is as much a movie about families as it is a movie about football. and yeah, i may get the book now too.
