I saw in the paper today: new nuclear sub "Jimmy Carter"
cool, since he once commanded a nuclear sub.

1. Uh-oh. Here we go again.
I made the same mistake in GD before the election of saying JC was a sub skipper and they jumped all over my ass. Seems he was an engineering officer.

2. No he didn't
He was assigned to the USS Seawolf early in its development as an engineering officer, but left the navy before she was put out to sea.

He served aboard the USS Pomfret and USS K-1 (both diesel/electric boats).

President Carter never commanded any vessel while in the Navy.

4. you know, I should have known that but I did not. guess
one would automatically think a guy who could become President was a commander on a sub..

seriously I really did think he was ...

but it is still cool that the sub has been named for him.
