2. Why would you fix one? Unless it's brand new and under warrenty
it's usually a better idea to replace it. New models are more energy efficient than what was available even 6 years ago. Unless you are changing the energy source, replacement is fairly straight forward.

they are not worth "fixing" per se'. It's not fairly straightforward when one has theirs in a closet with little or no wiggle room. :hi:

3. I usually just get a new one......
did have a pilot light issue a couple yrs back and it turned out to be the down draft switch which we disconnected.

5. we do yearly maintenance on ours
clean it out and change the elements. It keeps it going just fine
